Dutch Oven
and Stove Recipes
The Dutch oven is an extremely versatile cast-iron pot
that should be found in even the most sparsely-equipped Troop kitchen.
Dutch ovens vary in size, but most are large enough to contain two chickens or a
small turkey. The cast-iron pot has a close-fitting heavy lid and is
designed to be placed on direct heat or hot coals. The hot coals can also
be heaped upon the heavy lid, which turns the pot into a true oven, being heated
from both above and below. The Dutch oven can be used as a skillet,
saucepan, stewpot, roaster, steamer or oven. Whether you are making a
sauce or baking loaves of bread, you will prize the Dutch oven for its utility
value.
The following is a collection of Troop 385's Dutch Oven recipes. Tried and
tested, these are favorites. Enjoy!
